Family Mediation - An Alternative to Court
Maureen Goldblatt is a Family Mediator/ Child Specialist who works with parents to separate or divorce through the eyes of their child(ren). Unlike a traditional divorce that is often adversarial, costly, and has great risks to child development, working with a Child Specialist will provide the opposite and focus on how parents' initial decisions will impact their child(ren).
Helps parents:
- Understand the impact of their separation or divorce on the child(ren).
- Develop a joint message to communicate the separation to the children.
- Create a parenting plan/placement schedule including holidays and vacations unique to their family.
- Create a child-centered parenting plan that addresses the child(ren)'s ages, needs, and concerns.
- Provide an ongoing future resource as an alternative to court.
Helps children by:
- Allowing the child(ren) to express feelings, thoughts, and concerns as their family is transitioning.
- Allowing the children to feel heard through the Child Specialist rather than feeling caught in the middle of parents—child/ren deserve a “voice, not a choice".
- Providing education to the whole family on ways to manage stress and emotions.
- Providing parents with a minimum of 4 hours of co-parenting education unique to each family.
